Almedalen Week: Spowdi to participate in tech-for-sustainability seminar with focus on Sweden & India

Green-tech innovation company Spowdi will participate at this year’s Almedalen Week in a seminar on how technological collaborations can help realise sustainable development goals.

The seminar is part of the annual series Engaging India at Almedalen that focusses on knowledge sharing and co-creation between Swedish and Indian innovation ecosystems. Under the theme The World is One Family, the seminar series explores issues of sustainability, technology and innovation with thought leaders, decision-makers, academia and innovators from Sweden and India. The seminar series is co-organised by Uppsala University, Zerocity & Content People AB and will be held at Uppsala University’s Campus Gotland, Visby from July 4 to 6, 2022.

Participating at the seminar is a natural fit for Spowdi, as over the past four years it has been working closely with farming communities and industry stakeholders in India to enable small-scale farmers shift towards fossil-free farming.

Anders Andersson, Vice President and CSO at Spowdi, will participate in the seminar titled ‘How can technology collaborations help us build a more sustainable planet?’

“India is our main market, and we are happy to be a part of this important conversation about technology collaborations between Sweden and India. Spowdi’s mission is to drive an agricultural evolution by powering water distribution and irrigation with solar power. We have strong partnerships in India where we work a lot with green-tech agricultural companies, to enable small-scale farmers to grow more food with less water and zero fossil energy, using our smart farming system,” says Anders Andersson, who has spent several years researching and understanding the farming landscape in India.

Spowdi’s fossil-free irrigation system provides small-scale farmers with a solution to meet global requirements of producing food for a growing population, while reducing its environmental impact. Spowdi now wants more Swedish companies, organisations and innovators to collaborate with the Indian market and together help reduce carbon emissions globally.
