Projects and ongoing activities

The Water Drop Initiative

The ‘Water Drop Initiative’ takes Smart Farming to women micro-entrepreneurs and small-hold farmers, enabling them to reduce dependencies on fossil energy and be economically independent. The first project of this initiative is being rolled out in India.

Spowdi, in collaboration with SEWA-backed Grassroot Trading Network for Women and support from SHL Medical, have initiated the ‘Train the Trainer Programme’ to provide education and training for SEWA grassroots members and enable them to become experts in ‘Spowdi Smart Farming’. Presently, the Water Drop Initiative is being implemented in five Indian states including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

Tested and validated by National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), India

In April 2022 the Spowdi Mobile Pro MKII was tested by the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) in India. NISE is an autonomous specialized institute under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, mandated for research and development, solar component testing and certification, capacity building, and development of solar products and applications. The NISE test report validates the Spowdi system’s technical claims of being the only solar driven, green energy system available in the market which has a capacity to irrigate one acre of land using just a small solar panel on 150 watts.
